Industrial cybersecurity laboratory based on industrial processes of different nature, with the capacity to test devices from security manufacturers intended for introduction into real systems in a short time.
The UNIT 71 LAB laboratory controls industrial processes for different sectors: water, smartgrid, transport and health. The laboratory allows us to show our clients the weaknesses existing in the industrial communications of the Modbus, Profibus and Profinet type, and in the IP communications through Ethernet between the different systems (FRONTEND, HMI, SCADA, ENGINEERING) making up the control centre.
The laboratory has various objectives:
- To demonstrate the integration of different security devices to validate their operation
- To make an assessment of industrial devices in terms of cyber-security
- To use it as a validation scenario for R&D projects
- To use them as a pilot connected to other pilots for large projects.
This laboratory has PLCs, valves, motor pumps, switches and industrial gateways, capacity sensors, physical command panels, machine tools (state-of-the-art lathes for high precision), SCADA software and multiple communication protocols.
The UNIT 71 LAB laboratory is situated in an industrial setting, within the EGILE installations and in the vicinity (directly linked) of industrial plants in the aerospace, defence, 4.0 industry or health sectors. All these plants in turn have industrial processes commanded by SCADA systems meaning that the laboratory is able to extend towards controlled points on these enclosures.
Through the UNIT 71 LAB laboratory, ITS makes the potential of EGILE visible (mother company to which it belongs) as an industrial organisation living up to its motto: “Industrial cyber-security from Industry.”

In line with the Dept of R&D of ITS, the innovative developments proposed by ITS in their TRM will be jointly developed and tested.
